Where Google Search Console fits

Google Search Console is Google’s first-party view of a site in organic search. Its Performance report connects queries with clicks, impressions, positions and landing pages. Indexing and URL Inspection reports help explain whether Google can discover and select a page, while Core Web Vitals highlights groups of URLs with similar experience issues.

Useful for diagnosis, not just reporting

We use Search Console to separate different SEO questions. Is demand changing, or did a page lose visibility? Is Google indexing the preferred URL? Did a new template introduce a canonical or mobile usability problem? Filters for page, query, country, device and date make those questions much easier to investigate.

Read the data carefully

Search Console is not a conventional rank tracker and it does not report every individual search. Average position can move because the query mix changed, even when the main commercial terms stayed stable. We compare it with analytics, crawl data and the actual search results before drawing conclusions. The account should also retain all valid domain properties and sitemap submissions when a site changes platform.

Common use cases for Google Search Console

We use Search Console to verify ownership, submit sitemaps, inspect important URLs, review indexing patterns, compare search queries and landing pages, and monitor Core Web Vitals. It is also one of the first places we check after a migration or release.
