Training Connect’s National Training Marketplace

Background
Finding nationally recognised training in Australia often means moving between government registers, individual Registered Training Organisation websites and course pages that present information in different ways. Learners and workplaces can struggle to understand which course fits their needs, who offers it and what to do next.
Training Connect was created to make that journey clearer. The platform needed to bring course discovery, RTO information, comparison and enquiries into one coherent marketplace while preserving the important distinction between an independent discovery service and the accredited organisations responsible for training delivery.
The Challenge
The project had to serve three different audiences—individual learners, workplaces and RTO partners—without making the experience feel complex.
Key challenges included:
-
Structuring nationally recognised courses, unit codes and provider information consistently
-
Making search useful for both plain-language needs and exact course or RTO queries
-
Helping users compare options without obscuring official training information
-
Creating clear enquiry and partnership workflows with appropriate privacy and compliance boundaries
-
Building a scalable foundation for new courses, organisations, guides and marketplace features
The Solution
New Site Agency designed and developed a focused marketplace experience around the decisions users actually need to make.
The homepage combines a prominent search experience with direct pathways to browse courses, find an organisation or compare training. Course listings explain the recognised training product, surface available organisations and connect users to a structured enquiry flow. RTO pages and partnership content give providers a clear route to participate while keeping responsibility for enrolment, delivery, assessment and certification explicit.
The information architecture supports:
-
Search by course name, unit code or RTO
-
Nationally recognised course detail pages
-
Registered Training Organisation listings
-
Side-by-side course comparison
-
Individual and workplace enquiry workflows
-
RTO partnership registration and verification
-
Educational guides and marketplace news
Technical SEO, structured content, accessible interaction patterns and clear links to official government records were built into the platform from launch.
