On October 2, 2025, Shopify officially rolled out global unit pricing, a long-awaited feature that allows merchants to display prices per weight, volume, length, or quantity — like $10.49/oz, $5.32/ft, or $2.99 each.

This update is a game-changer for industries such as:

  • 🥜 Nut bars and bulk-food retailers

  • 🧀 Delicatessens and butchers

  • Coffee roasters and tea merchants

  • 🧴 Cosmetic and health product brands

For the first time, these businesses can display transparent unit pricing directly in Shopify without custom code or third-party apps.

Until now, Shopify users who sold by weight or volume often had to build custom solutions or use complex workarounds to show prices like “$30/kg” or “$5/100g.”

How It Works

You can now set a total measure (for example, 500g) and a base measure (such as 1kg), and Shopify will automatically calculate and display your price per unit.

For example:

  • $30 for 600g coffee beans

  • Base unit: 1kg

  • Displayed automatically as $50.00/kg

Shopify also ensures this data syncs everywhere — on your product pages, collections, carts, checkout, and even order confirmation emails.
